Soul Knows Everything – Janice Coyle

I was inspired to write a little poem when I first saw this photo of Holly, my step-daughter.  Holly peaceful, yet softly alert – a meditation:

The soul knows something
I do not know when thinking.
But, when gazing into nowhere,
I just Am.
I am here. All is here.
Where Soul knows everything!

In all these years, one thing has been proven over and over. Our chattering mind, always thinking, and trying to figure things out, is actually clueless!

The computer mind knows nothing but the past. So what is the Source of original thought? Inspiration? Creativity? Well, it’s definitely beyond the mind. Many of us think we know this, but we are always forgetting. Such is the hypnotic power of any computer.

But what if we can easily get beyond the computer, and go to where there is knowledge – and acceptance! – of everything? How do we access this Something?

Well, first, we must quiet that biggest obstacle – the constantly thinking mind.

Some of us have tried a wonderful practice. We have meditated 20 minutes each morning and again each night. This can bring us a lot of peace and many insights. This practice definitely helps the day flow better.

But, here’s what I’ve experienced: When I leave a long meditation, its effect lasts for a while. Then, I’m back with the chattering, worrying mind, until I meditate again in the evening.

To make a long story short, I don’t meditate this way anymore. Who was it that said “make your LIFE a meditation”? This seems to indicate that we can touch that Something all the time.

The secret is to take moments frequently during the day to pause and just BE. A moment to bring Soul/God/Source into our awareness. Time for these moments is always and everywhere available. Just a minute, or two or ten – it doesn’t matter.

The important thing is to simply quiet the mind, gaze into nowhere and just BE. The benefits are enormous, and leave me with wonder at how I can be so blessed, in return for so little effort.

With this practice, we are more in the flow of life. More synchronicities appear. Acceptance of what is in the now is easier. There is less worry and more focus on the simple tasks at hand before us in any moment

After a while, there comes an awareness of being guided by a Presence that always knows what is best.

The soul knows something I do not know when thinking

To know there is such intelligent guidance is so reassuring. I’m reminded of a hymn I listened to often, in a very difficult time of my life. It was written in the 1800s by John Henry Newman:

Lead, kindly Light
Amid the encircling gloom,
Lead Thou me on.
The night is dark, and I am far from home
Lead Thou me on.
Keep thou my feet
I do not ask to see the distant scene
One step enough
Lead Thou me on.

When we go within frequently during the day, busyness stops and things do themselves. We are more at peace and inspiration and solutions just appear! Truly, the Soul knows everything.

And so, we stop, to listen.
